Some back then believed 1975 would be it, many didn't. Those who denied 1975 bragged how spiritual they were because "No man knows the day or hour" and "they" didn't believe it. Those who fell for it, fell hard. Most of those left because it was a fraud. Oddly enough, I think more who knew it was a falsehood left because they were critical thinkers and knew it was BS all along and saw how the GB treated those fools who were so easily persuaded. It was a shameful time for the cult. Now they continue the whitewash and its easier because new converts have no point of reference. They do have snappy music videos though.

If you teach someone that it is godliness never to eat again, that person may stay faithful to the doctrine but fail to realize that the hunger pangs are not simply a sign of religious fervor, they are signs of an impending death. The WT keeps men with responsibilities so busy that they don't realize they are destroying their life, killing them slowly with frustration and a sense of never doing enough despite sacrificing all they are on the altar of the GB. You will finally start to recover when you dump the influence of the oral poison of the meetings to achieve clarity of mind. Thank goodness your son had sex and exposed the double standards of the WT in your life. Only forward, ever forward. Go to the light grasshopper.

The "faithful slave" urges confession in latest Watchtower!
by The Searcher inwatchtower october 2017, page 11, par.
17 - confess and abandon secret sins.
some christians who have committed a serious sin try to cover it over in order to avoid embarrassing themselves or disappointing others.

It never made sense to me when an elder or a CO would say "Jehovah's spirit" was being withdrawn because of wrongdoing. They would point to lower hours and lower donations as evidence. They would say Jehovah's spirit was being withdrawn from the congregation. I would reflect on my 90 hours a month, 12 bible studies and countless hours as an elder in meeting parts and such and think, what did I do that would make someones sin cause Jehovah to thwart all those efforts? They couldn't see that debt and a bad economy was hindering ALL the congregation members from meeting the slavish demands of the organization. Usually the hours of these same elders were low and they were often absent. Jack asses.

Do we attack the Topic or the Person?
by stuckinarut2 ini was just thinking that most witnesses can not approach a controversial topic without turning it into an attack of the person who raises that topic.. as we all awaken to ttatt (the truth about the truth), they simply can't discuss the actual facts or issues we discover without turning it into an attack of us as "apostates" with all the negative connotations that word entails.... how truly narrow minded and sad!
.
they would rather attack the person than the topic..

I think most people lazily engage in this sort of defense when they must be right, a self defeating weakness we all partake of occasionally. Its just that the WT thinks they are right all the time and therefore have perfected it. Once we become objective, only then can we realize and accept reality because we are open to it.

New Here
by Red.tomato inhi everyone, this is my first post .. it takes a little bit of courage to do it, i have to admit and even thought i have been lurking for some time as time goes by it gets more and more difficult to keep attending meetings and just been around the friends in the congregation.
ever since i learned about the arc something inside of me just broke and it feels pretty hollow, now i pay attention to every single form of manipulation in every direction, what difference it makes with the catholic church or with any other religions ?
i wonder why the publishers are under obligation to report about their lives and decisions to the elders but they don´t keep informed the congregation about what´s going on legally other than russia.

Hey tomato! Just let it slide awhile, don't go after your parents with Thor's hammer of Truth. Let them see you are not going wild, drugs, sex and the like. Be a good person, find your niche and enjoy life. Like the JW's say, better to live a good witness than to talk one. Show them you are OK, in fact thriving. They may not ask how you are but in time you will have evidence of a good life when they do.

Hi Red tomato, I understand the feeling of "I´m becoming week spiritually". As you continue to learn just how fake the "spirituality" of the Watchtower is, you will be so glad you are strengthening your "worldly ways". It is actually freedom from a cult mentality. It took courage to post, because it is so against your indoctrination. Keep your mind clear and don't fall back into slaving for men in upper New York state. -

Stay close to him PE. Depression doesn't magically disappear. He will have lows I'm sure but you can help pick him up. As he substitutes real life for WT servitude he will continue to enjoy life so much more. Extremes tend to lead to disappointment, inside the org and out, so keep an ear open and love that brother to life!
